Summary

The ultimate cure that could heal any disease? Crazy。

That's exactly what research scientist Marian Creighton has always believed about her father's quest, even if it does stem from a desire to save her sister Ellen from the genetic disease that stole their mother from them。 But when her father falls into a coma after drinking a vial of holy water believed to contain traces of residue from the Tree of Life, Marian must question all of her assumptions。 He's left behind tantalizing clues that suggest he's crossed back in time。 Insane。 Until Marian tests his theories and finds herself in the Middle Ages during a dangerous peasant uprising。

William Durham, a valiant knight comes to Marian's rescue and offers her protection 。 。 。 as his wife。 The longer Marian stays in the past, the more she cares about William。 Can she ever find her father and make it back to the present to heal her sister? And when the time comes to leave, will she want to?

Bestselling author Jody Hedlund is your guide down the twisting waters of time to a volatile era of superstition, revolts, and chivalry in this suspenseful story。

I love anything time travel, so I was quite intrigued by the idea behind this story, my first by this author。 I loved reading about medieval times。 And it was great that it was a time period we specifically learned a little about during our homeschool this year。 It was a great love story as well。 My only problem is, I have to wait for the next book

Started off a little slow but finished strong。 A great time travel romance! I can’t wait to read book 2 in the series。

I am a sucker for a good time travel book anyway, but Jody Hedlund spins a truly magical tale here! Beautiful story well told, still thinking about it 2 days later。 :) 。。。more

I finished this novel in less than 24 hours。 I stayed up too late reading (which I rarely do now that I’m a mom!) because I had to know how it ends。 And although I adore the ending, I cannot WAIT for book two!Knocked off a star because I didn’t love how flippantly the heroine treated her time-traveling beau at first。 But the story! Gah! (Highly recommend for those who love a bit more Song of Solomon than Ruth)。

Super interesting! While searching for her missing father, Marian accidentally goes back in time and falls hard for handsome knight William Durham。 I've read and enjoyed a number of Jody Hedlund's books - mainly the YA ones - and when I saw that her newest was a time travel romance (a favorite genre), I jumped at the chance to get an ARC from the publisher。 But, well 。。。 I honestly didn't like this book very much。 The romance moved too fast and wasn't based on very much。 The characters didn't take very much time t While searching for her missing father, Marian accidentally goes back in time and falls hard for handsome knight William Durham。 I've read and enjoyed a number of Jody Hedlund's books - mainly the YA ones - and when I saw that her newest was a time travel romance (a favorite genre), I jumped at the chance to get an ARC from the publisher。 But, well 。。。 I honestly didn't like this book very much。 The romance moved too fast and wasn't based on very much。 The characters didn't take very much time to get to know each other before rushing headlong into a serious relationship。 Some of it was influenced by the circumstances, but I still think they could have gotten to know each other better and focused less on the heat。What's more, the only characters who were three-dimensional were Marian and William。 The others were pretty flat, and I especially didn't that William's kids were among the two-dimensional characters because the kids shouldn't be afterthoughts in a relationship。 Lastly, the time-travel theory was the wildest, most unbelievable theory I've ever encountered。 Kudos for creativity, but it was too far-fetched for me to appreciate it。 So, yeah, I didn't like this book much。 I suppose there were a few good points - the settings were interesting and I liked William's sister。 But I will stick to Jody Hedlund's other books, which I liked a lot better。 Perhaps if you take a chance on this book, you'll find you like it。 But it isn't for me。 I received a complementary copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley。 All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for sharing them。 。。。more

I'm going to say this now and I don't think anyone will be surprised: I love time travel novels! Jody Hedlund's Come Back to Me was an intriguing mixture of time travel, romance, suspense, and a hint of science that I found created a story that was hard to put down! When Marian first travels 'back in time' and sees an image of Will。。。well, I was sold。 He's not only brawny and handsome, but he's a good guy too and I was rooting for them from the beginning。 The question of "will they end up together" and "if so, how???" kept me turning pages late into the night。 I found that some of the background information at the beginning (the "how" of the time travel) was an interesting take on the Tree of Life but I was more interested in the romance, to be honest (ha!)。 The suspenseful elements were a nice touch though, and kept that worry going as to how things would work out。 I didn't expect the 1300s to be romantic, but Hedlund had a way of showing the aspects of that time period that are almost 'better than' ours - like a simpler life, natural beauty, and the ability to enjoy quiet。 Some have mentioned in their reviews about the romance elements being "too much" for Christian fiction but I honestly didn't find that。 I'd perhaps recommend this to 17+ but I found it to be a true representation of desire between a man and a woman and there was plenty of instances where that desire (or lust as some have called it) moved past to a desire to more deeply know one another on an intellectual level as well。 I'd recommend this to fans of time travel novels like Outlander (though from a Christian perspective) and those who enjoy historical fiction as well。 My rating: 3。8*----Thanks to the publisher for gifting me a copy of this book。 All opinions expressed are my own。 。。。more

I don’t think so。 This is fun time-bending fiction。 Having said that, I do want to commend the author: the medical issues addressed seemed well researched, as was some of the pharmaceutical intrigue。 So time travel is the big leap, of course, but other than that it was smooth sailing into the sea of summer fiction。Keep up the great work! I’m already looking forward to a sequel! 。。。more

The contemporary aspects were well written and the suspense in them of trying to figure out what is happening as well as who is behind some of the problems。 Then the history that is mixed in and spoken of in the contemporary moments and then jumping back to the past with some of those historical tidbits。 So well woven together。 I know I said it was a little slow at first for me, but after all the initial important info was divulged and the time jump happened, the flow of the story was great! Now I'll be patiently waiting for the second book in this series。 Oh。 My。 Heavens!!! I can only imagine what might happen in that one。 Will we get to see more of Marian and William??? Please, please, please Ms。 Hedlund say that we will!!!Content: Clean。 Time travel aspects, some moments of peril due to jumping back into the Middle Ages。 Death, and some attacks occuring in the current time, but nothing overly graphic。 There is talk between a married couple about being intimate but there is nothing more than kisses and them laying in bed snuggling。 Everything else fades to black。I received a copy from the publisher, Revell, via NetGalley。 All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own。Happy Reading!!! 。。。more

This novel completely absorbed me for the better part of two days。 It’s impressive when an author can write a story with an implausible premise and make it feel completely plausible。 Set in 1381 and modern times, Jody Hedlund delivers fantastical spiritual elements sprinkled with history, romance and excitement。 I’m a fan of her Bride series, but this is better。 I loved it。

This is my first Hedlund novel and judging by other reviewers this is a bit of a step away from her usual stories。 Well, I certainly enjoyed this one and am looking forward to the sequel。Time travel is always fun to read and Hedlund did a good job outlining how one travels from one era to another: modern England back to 1381 England。 Hedlund gives us a fabulous view of the 1300s and the Peasant Revolt which Marian Creighton arrived in the middle of。 As Marian, like us, is familiar with the curre This is my first Hedlund novel and judging by other reviewers this is a bit of a step away from her usual stories。 Well, I certainly enjoyed this one and am looking forward to the sequel。Time travel is always fun to read and Hedlund did a good job outlining how one travels from one era to another: modern England back to 1381 England。 Hedlund gives us a fabulous view of the 1300s and the Peasant Revolt which Marian Creighton arrived in the middle of。 As Marian, like us, is familiar with the current times, we're all given a great education into the vast differences of medieval Canterbury。 It was captivating to read。The story actually has a great deal of suspense too which kept me turning pages。 Will Marian find the source of the holy water and sufficient ampullae so she can both return to current times and heal her sister? The Peasant Revolt adds another layer of suspense plus a good dollop of fear with the cruelty of the leaders being ever present。But perhaps what I reflect most on is the romance between Marian and Will Burnham。 It's really delightful to read。 His chivalry, her strength of character and his willingness to allow Marian to be herself was good to read。 The sensuality between the two is well written too。 I suspect there'll be some readers who'll think it too much but I actually thought it added to the realism of the story and to its suspense。 Will Marian and Will's love be allowed to flourish or will Marian return to the future and be forever wondering what if?This was a thoroughly enjoyable read and I'm keen to read the followup to see what happens next。I received an early complimentary ebook copy as part of the Revell Reads blogger program via NetGalley with no expectation of a positive review。 。。。more

Marian must help to save her father。 He has been working on research of the life healing properties of water from the Tree of Life。 His main goal is to heal his otherailing daughter。 Marian learns that her dad is suddenly in a coma and flies to be with her estranged father。 However, she must decipher his research to figure out exactly why he is mysteriously in a coma。 What happens next will take you on a mind wondering voyage。I found that I throughly enjoyed this totally unbelievable story, which the author made believable。 I was engrossed in the story and could not wait to read on。 I can't wait to read more of Jody's books! This story was amazing。I was given a free copy from the publisher to review, which I was more than happy to do。 I would highly recommend this book! 。。。more

Thank you to Baker Publishing Group and Netgalley for making this book available to me。 My thoughts are my own。Time travel。 An intriguing theme that requires extensive research and a solid story to be cohesive。 Jody Hedlund jumps on the time travel train in her newly released novel Come Back to Me (out June 1, 2021)。 Before I review this title, I would like to say that this is my second Hedlund title, the first being The Preacher's Bride, one I highly recommend。I've read several time travel book Thank you to Baker Publishing Group and Netgalley for making this book available to me。 My thoughts are my own。Time travel。 An intriguing theme that requires extensive research and a solid story to be cohesive。 Jody Hedlund jumps on the time travel train in her newly released novel Come Back to Me (out June 1, 2021)。 Before I review this title, I would like to say that this is my second Hedlund title, the first being The Preacher's Bride, one I highly recommend。I've read several time travel books and series, and for the most part, none of them has ever overlapped with construction, eras or themes。 Every one has been unique in presentation, and I find Hedlund's interpretation of time travel fascinating。 It reminds me of the movie Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeves, based on Richard Matheson's Bid Time Return (1975)。 It's the first novel that I have read where I've had this impression, so I'd say that rocks! Marketed as a Christian novel and published by a Christian publishing house, Come Back to Me plays with the supernatural without falling into witchcraft。 I appreciate how Hedlund ties in the "tree of life" and the many theories surrounding the tree of life's transportation from the Garden of Eden。 In fact, Hedlund speaks about this in her Author's Note at the end of the novel。 Additionally, Hedlund remarks on her research of the year 1381。 Again, extensive research plays well for those writing historical fiction。 I am amazed at the amount of research required, since as a burgeoning author myself, I feel overwhelmed at the thought of the time required to do so。Overall, Hedlund's novel reads like a dream (irony intended)。 While the build up to time travel seemed lone while first diving in, I see the value of building up the story now that I have finished。If any criticism, I figured out the villain pretty early on, and I wish this element had been more surprising。Like I already expressed, Come Back to Me plays with time travel like Somewhere in Time does。 Time travelers find themselves in a dreamlike state in modern time while their consciousnesses are bound in another。 It works well, and Hedlund succeeds at writing an engaging story。 Characters are well-written; plot runs smoothly。 I find my curiosity rising to learn more about Harrison, an enigma of a character who seems out of the past。 I'll have to wait until 2022 to read more about him in Hedlund's sequel Never Leave Me。Like The Preacher's Bride, Come Back to Me shows Hedlund's strength as a writer of strong historical fiction。 I highly recommend this book with the understanding that the build up takes time。 Once into the story, it moves quickly。 Definitely a read to stay up all night for! 。。。more

I love all of Hedlund’s books and always look forward to the next one…。。Yet this one is sooo different。 I really don’t have adequate words for this review。 It is a time travel, which I confess is not my favorite type of novel。 This one is puzzling and intriguing with a mystery also。 An unexpected romance with a unique ending。 Very strong characters male and female。 The two story lines, present and in the 1300’s England were so different yet intertwined。 I did enjoy the description and history of I love all of Hedlund’s books and always look forward to the next one…。。Yet this one is sooo different。 I really don’t have adequate words for this review。 It is a time travel, which I confess is not my favorite type of novel。 This one is puzzling and intriguing with a mystery also。 An unexpected romance with a unique ending。 Very strong characters male and female。 The two story lines, present and in the 1300’s England were so different yet intertwined。 I did enjoy the description and history of that era in England。 We have danger with many unanswered questions。 Searching for the “tree of life” also searching for “holy water” to possibly make a person dead come back to life。 This book is very interesting and different from Hedlund’s other books……。。My thanks to Revell Publishing for a copy of this book via Net Galley。 I was not required to leave a positive review。 The opinion expressed here is entirely my own。 。。。more
